Entry 14 : Nest

Can you see the grey pigeon on the branch?

 Pigeon's house

I noticed my neighbours are not interested in planting tall trees. My immediate neighbour only plant shrubs and flowering blooms but not trees. I realize the tall trees in our courtyard are reservoirs for birds especially pigeons, Mata Putih and Okinawa green sparrows.
There's a family of pigeons that have decided to make our courtyard their home. For several years now, the female laid eggs on our sakura tree. There, on the branch, she feeds her baby birds. But last year, there was strong winds and heavy rain for some days after the eggs were laid. Those eggs dropped from its loose and damp nest.
We don't want this to happen this year. We felt the need to build a treehouse for them. But instead of making the house on the sakura tree, we build it on the jackfruit tree.
It has been a couple of months and the family of pigeons still have not noticed the new structure. My husband said it'll take perhaps a year before the pigeons have confidence and feel secure to move into it.
As I write this, the family of pigeons is in their matting season. Hopefully, there won't be any broken eggs this time.
